Title: Pulse Gallery in Concert with Manitoba Artists
Pulse Gallery showcases the diversity of 12 talented Manitoban artists with works on display by: Kathleen Black, Garry Budyk, Kathleen Crosby, Cindy Dyson, Peter Dumans, Naomi Gerrard, Fabiola Marabotto, Wayne Purvis, Gail Sawatzky, Anthony Steffes, Dale Turner and Sandra Wiebe. From original acrylics, water colours and mixed media paintings, to photography, glass, metal and fiber arts, Pulse Gallery highlights some of Manitoba's unique and beautiful creations. Pulse Gallery is located in the historic Johnston Terminal at Winnipeg's renowned Forks development and is open from 11a.m.-6p.m. daily.

This workshop explains how to sell and package yourself as a visual artist. Working on your art is one thing—presenting yourself as an artist is another. Items such as Portfolio development, CVs, artist statements, bios, websites, blogs and social media, and photographing your art will be covered. We will also cover how to approach galleries.

Managing your Priorities as an artist

Do you ever feel like there is just too much on your plate as an artist? Where do you start when it comes to the business side? Artists always say, "we really just want to paint and create" and they don't take pleasure in marketing themselves. Who does! In this workshop artists will set goals for both their artistic careers and the management of their careers. From promotion to creation, this is the workshop to get organized and get to work! Future workshops might result from this intro to workshop :)
Exhibiting In Alternative Gallery Spaces

Learn how each type of gallery space operates, how to approach businesses to display your artwork, the ins and outs of contracts, installation, insurance, and what you need to be aware of before hanging your art in alternative gallery spaces.

Learn the ins and outs of facebook, build yourself a business page! Bring a laptop and if you don't have one, we have a few extras that you and a friend can share. Eliminate your fears of 'facebook' by making certain settings private. Learn why a page is more important and accessable than your own personal account.
Professional Installation of Artworks
Sunday, October 14, 1-3pm, please bring 1-3 art pieces with you to hang. Please make sure it is 'hang ready'! Due to the repair of walls, making of labels and the repainting of the room this workshop will be $35 per person rather than $20.
Learn the how to and how to not hang artwork--right from the wire! We'll teach you how to install your piece(s), how to light the works and how to create proper installation labels. Learn about framing dos and don'ts! A real 'hands on' workshop for artists. Artworks will be on display in the classroom studio from 12-6pm, Tuesday through Saturday following this workshop.
How to Better Promote yourself as a Photographer
Sunday, November 4, 1-3 pm, please bring your own notebook and pen.
Learn strategies to better promote yourself and market your product, find contracts and jobs as photographers. This class was previously instructed at Prairie View School of Photography and some materials were provided by Melanie Seal Jones, Orange Frog Studio, Victoria, BC.
Jordan Miller graduated from the U of M's School of Art with a BFA (honours) in 2002. In 2008, Jordan graduated from the U of W's Arts & Cultural Management program. She founded outworks (2002) & cre8ery (2006).
She is a member of Arts & Cultural Industries (ACI), Mentoring Art for Womens Art (MAWA) and Manitoba Society of Artists (MSA). She has mentored through ACI and Golden Prairie Arts Council. She has also mentored individuals in both the creation and the marketing of their art. Before cre8ery, she worked for the Mantioba Arts Network and Manitoba Crafts Council.
In 2011, Jordan won the Woman of Distinction for the Arts (YMCA-YWCA).
