Mabel Tinguely Gallery

Mabel Tinguely is a native of Gimli, Manitoba. Her husband's career in the Canadian Armed Forces (he's now retired) led her to live in many parts of Canada, as well as Europe.
Her interest in art began with correspondence classes in high school. Though largely a self-taught artist, Mabel has taken part in many workshops and learning opportunities, beginning with courses offered in CFB Petawawa in 1980.
Since she began seriously pursuing her career as an artist, Mabel Tinguely’s solo exhibitions have appeared at the Manawaka Gallery in Neepawa, the Portage and District Arts Council in Portage La Prairie, the Wasagaming Community Arts Centre, the Sam Waller Museum in The Pas, the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba in Brandon, and the Heritage North Museum in Thompson. Fleet Galleries, Winnipeg presented her tenth exhibit, 2006’s Cluck-Cluck & More.
Her work has appeared in countless group shows, including the Manitoba Society of Artists open juried exhibitions. She's won top honours with her art, including the Purchase Award and Best Picture Award at the annual Islendingadagurinn Fine Arts Juried Show in Gimli (1991), and the first prize in both Mixed Media and Print-making in the Interlake Juried Art Show in Selkirk, (1998). Her work has appeared in Grand Jury 3 at the Winnipeg Art Gallery (1995), where it has also been frequently selected for the WAG's juried selection of art for rental and sale.
While dedicated to her own art production, Mabel is also involved in the artistic community at large. She's a long-standing member and past president of the Gimli Art Club, and recently completed two years as a panelist on the Arts Development Project Support Program, Community Assessment Panel for the Interlake Region. She is also a member of MSA (Manitoba Society of Artists), CARFAC Manitoba, The Manitoba Association of Community Arts Councils, The Selkirk Art Club, and Main / Access Gallery in Winnipeg.
