Originally from Toronto, Ontario and have always painted since a little girl. I am basically self-taught. Have taken classes with Kady Denton between '93 to '95 in watercolour, Toni Onley 1994 weekend workshop offered at Art gallery of Southwestern Manitoba, Len Sandeman, Barb Flemington and Mary Joyce, all at AGSM as well.

My main discipline is watercolour. I also incorporate mixed media with watercolour such as pen and ink, conte crayons, etc. I also have developed my own technique of painting on rice paper with watercolour. Also started painting in acrylics 2004. Have put on many one day workshops teaching watercolour on rice paper technique since 1997 in Brandon, Wasagaming Art Gallery, Portage La Prairie Art Gallery, Virden Art Council, Neepawa Art Gallery, Hamiota Art Club, St. James Art Club of Wpg. Have also taught watercolour classes to children ages 6 - 16 or older in Brandon School Division, such as Betty Gibson, St. Augustines and also at two schools in Virden, MB - Goulter and Mary Montgomery Schools (2002 and 2003) as well as children's art camp in Virden Art Council summer of 2004.

Watercolour Get-a-Way - Kathy has put on a painting weekend at Fairmount B & B (owned by Susan Proven), usually every spring with great success. These took place in may 2003, 2005 and June 2006, 2007 and June 7 & 8th, 2008.

Solo Shows: Have had many solo shows since 1997 - Manawaka Gallery in Neepawa 1998 and 2004, Wasagaming Art Gallery 2001, Portage la Prairie Art Gallery 2000 and 2003, Virden Art Council 2002, Community Hall Gallery, AGSM - April 2003 to name a few. Instructor's Show at AGSM - Brandon, MB April - June 2004. Instructor's Show at AGSM October 20/05 - November 30/05.

Midwest Art Council in Hamiota, MB in February 2006. Reception Heritage Arts Centre, Hamiota, Friday, February 17/06 at 7:00 pm.

Selected member of the Manitoba Society of Artists as of October. 2000 and have exhibited with new members at Winnipeg, Legislative Bldg. in Jan 2001 as well as the 100th anniversary exhibition at main Access Gallery, Wpg. in August 2002. Have shown with MSA at City Place, Wpg., MB numerous times and received an honourable mention monetary award at the show in July of 2003 for my pen and ink with watercolour painting called 'Mailboxes'.

'Common Ground' Show - a collaboration withe Manitoba Society of Artists and Alberta Society of Artists. Opening Reception at Winnipeg Legislative Bldg., Wpg., MB on Sunday, April 30th, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. This show toured in Manitoba and Alberta and completed in November 2007. 'Morning Has Broken', an acrylic painting by Kathy Hehn, will travel in the show (this was a juried selection).

Wasagaming Community Art Centre, May 16/08 to June 11/08 - 'Inspiration - Home and Away'.

Artist's Statement: In my art work I try to capture the joy and beauty of an otherwise hectic, and sometimes, ugly world. As well, I depict 'feel good' moments with my comfort zone cozy scenes, gentle landscapes (home and away) and scenes of places I have travelled. In these moments in time I hope to reflect enjoyment and well-being onto my viewers.

Kathy has been teaching adult watercolour classes at the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (AGSM) since 2001 and continues to do so.
