Judy Sutton Gallery
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Judy lives and paints near the lovely town of Birds Hill. She has been involved in Winnipeg’s creative community for many years, first as an educator and now as a visual artist. During her long and busy years while teaching music in elementary schools by day, Judy spent her evenings at her sewing machine. Enjoying the quiet and the tactile pleasure of working with fabric, she created beautiful fashions, toys and quilts. Since retiring she has turned her creative energies to painting with water media. Inspired by Canada’s beautiful landscapes, gardens, animals and people, she paints in a representational style , aiming to create works that will entertain rather than instruct, flow with movement and vitality, and dazzle with colours that sing. While teaching music, Judy organized many professional development programs. It follows, then, that she would be interested in programs that encourage art education now. Hence she is proud to represent Leading Edge Art Workshops here in Winnipeg. Twice a year workshops featuring extraordinary artist-teachers are held at 180 Poplar Avenue in Elmwood.
