John was born in Redhill, Surrey, England and has lived in North Wales, Northern England, London, Trinidad, The Netherlands and Winnipeg. A retired agricultural research scientist, he has always been passionate about Agriculture, Animals and Art.

John paints in water mixable oils focusing on equine activites, farm scenes and especially rare breeds of farm animals. He is the first Artist-In-Residence of Rare Breeds Canada and uses his art to educate people about the plight and need for survival of rare breeds of farm animals.

John is a member and past secretary of the Manitoba Society of Artists, a member of the Winnipeg Sketch Club and an associate member of the Society of Canadian Artists and of the Federation of Canadian Artists. He has exhibited and won a awards in many joint shows and open juried shows. In Winnipeg, in 2010, he had joint shows at the Cre8ery and Fleet Galleries, and was awarded second prize in the professional division of the Red River Exhibition Art Show at Assiniboine Downs.
