Darrell’s involvement with painting began 35 years ago in The Pas, MB, where he was born. He is a self taught artist who has managed to develop his passion for art while working as a fine carpenter and raising a family. Painting in oils, largely with a painting knife, is his primary focus. The landscape, in an increasingly abstract manner, is his current interest. Recent exhibits of his work have been shown at the Chapel Gallery in North Battleford and the Hambelton and Art Ark Galleries in Kelowna, BC. Darrell is pleased and honored to have received a grant from the Manitoba Arts Council for his project entitled “Meditations on the Northlands”. His work hangs in numerous government, corporate and private spaces in Canada and abroad. Besides being a member of the MSA since 2007 Darrell is also an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Nature and the nature of life is and always has been the quest of his art making and since, in the words of Meister Eckhart, “Knowledge always deceives, it always limits the Truth, every concept and image does”, this quest will be a long and happy one.
